I am,

I am directed by the High Commissioner to

acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 3rd instant

regarding Chinese labour recruited in Hong Kong for Western

Samoa, and to state that, unfortunately, this Office does

not possess a copy of the Agreement which is current.

however, to send you a copy of Ordinance No.10 of 1923

entitled "The Chinese Free Labour Ordinance", and to state

that, so far as is known, no modification of the Ordinance

has since been made.

A communication is being sent to the Administration

in Western Samoa requesting that this Office be supplied with

copies of the Agreement and so soon as they come to hand,

one will be sent to you.
